After
this
it
happened
, that
David struck
the Philistines, and
subdued them, and took Gath and its towns
out
of
the hand of the Philistines.
Some
time
later
, David defeated
the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its villages
from
the hand of the Philistines.
He
struck
Moab;
and
the Moabites became servants
to David ,
and brought tribute.
David
also
defeated
the Moabites ,
and
they
became subject
to David and brought him
tribute.
David struck
Hadarezer
king of Zobah to
Hamath
, as
he
went
to establish his dominion by
the river
Euphrates.
As
far
as
Hamath,
David also
defeated
King Hadadezer
of Zobah, who
had
marched
out
to establish his dominion along
the Euphrates River
.
David took
from him one
thousand chariots, and
seven thousand horsemen
, and twenty thousand footmen;
and David
hamstrung all the chariot
horses ,
but
reserved
of
them
for
one
hundred chariots.
David captured
from him a
thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers
, and twenty thousand foot
soldiers,
and he
hamstrung all the horses except
a
hundred he
kept
for
the
chariots.
When the Syrians
of Damascus came to help Hadarezer
king of Zobah, David struck of
the
Syrians
twenty-two thousand men.
When the Arameans
of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer
of Zobah, David struck down
twenty-two thousand men.
Then David
put
[
garrisons ]
in Syria
of Damascus ;
and the Syrians
became servants
to David ,
and brought tribute. Yahweh
gave
victory
to
David wherever he went.
Then he
placed
garrisons in Aram
of Damascus ,
and the Arameans
became subject
to David and brought him
tribute. So
the
LORD
made
David victorious
wherever he went.
David took the shields
of
gold that were
on
the servants
of Hadarezer,
and brought them to Jerusalem.
And
David took the gold shields
that belonged
to
the officers
of Hadadezer
and brought them to Jerusalem.
From Tibhath and from
Cun, cities of Hadarezer
, David took very
much
brass
, with which Solomon made the brazen
sea, and
the pillars, and the
vessels
of
brass
.
And
from Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer
, David took a
large
amount
of
bronze
, with which Solomon made the bronze
Sea, the pillars, and various
bronze
articles
.
When Tou
king of Hamath heard that David had struck
all
the host
of Hadarezer
king of Zobah,
When King Tou
of Hamath heard that David had defeated
the entire
army
of Hadadezer
king of Zobah,
he sent Hadoram
his son to king David ,
to
Greet
him,
and to
bless him ,
because
he
had
fought
against
Hadarezer
and
struck
him;
(
for Hadarezer
had
wars
with
Tou;)
and [he
had with him]
all manner
of vessels
of gold and silver and brass.
he sent his son Hadoram
to greet
King David and bless him for fighting
and defeating
Hadadezer,
who
had been
at
war
with Tou.
Hadoram
brought
all kinds
of articles
of gold and silver and bronze,
These
also
did
king David dedicate
to Yahweh
, with the silver and the
gold that
he carried away
from all the
nations ;
from Edom ,
and from
Moab, and from the children
of
Ammon
, and
from
the
Philistines, and from
Amalek
.
and
King David dedicated
these
to the
LORD
, along
with the silver and gold he had
carried off
from all these
nations —
from Edom and Moab, and from the Ammonites
, Philistines, and Amalekites
.
Moreover Abishai the
son of Zeruiah struck of
the
Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen
thousand
.
Moreover ,
Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down
eighteen
thousand
Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
He put
garrisons in Edom ;
and all the Edomites became
servants
to David. Yahweh
gave
victory
to
David wherever he went.
He placed
garrisons in Edom ,
and all the Edomites were
subject
to David. So
the
LORD
made
David victorious
wherever he went.
David reigned over all Israel ;
and he
executed
justice and righteousness to
all his people .
Thus
David reigned over all Israel and administered
justice and righteousness for
all his people :
Joab the
son of Zeruiah was over the host
; and
Jehoshaphat the
son of Ahilud was recorder;
Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army
; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the
recorder;
and
Zadok the
son of Ahitub ,
and Abimelech
the
son of Abiathar ,
were priests; and
Shavsha was scribe;
Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech
son of Abiathar were priests; Shavsha was the
scribe;
and
Benaiah the
son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the
Pelethites; and the
sons of
David
were chief about
the king
.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s
sons were chief officials
at
the king’s
side
.
