Berean Standard Bible
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers
to David, and
cedar trees
, and
masons
, and carpenters, to build him
a house
.
Now
Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys
to David, along
with
cedar logs
, stonemasons
, and carpenters, to build a palace
for
him
.
David perceived
that Yahweh
had established him king over Israel ;
for
his kingdom was
exalted
on
high,
for his people Israel's
sake
.
And
David realized
that the
LORD
had established him as
king over Israel and
had
highly
exalted
his kingdom for the
sake
of
His people Israel
.
David took more wives at
Jerusalem ;
and David
became the father of more sons and daughters.
And
David took more wives in
Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters.
These are the names of the children whom
he
had
in Jerusalem: Shammua, and
Shobab, Nathan, and
Solomon,
These are the names of the children born
to
him
in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
and
Ibhar, and
Elishua, and
Elpelet,
Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
and
Nogah, and
Nepheg, and
Japhia,
Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
and
Elishama, and
Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
When the Philistines heard that David was
anointed king over all Israel, all the
Philistines
went up
to
seek
David:
and
David heard
of it,
and went out against
them.
When the Philistines heard that David had
been
anointed king over all Israel, they
all went in
search
of
him;
but
David learned
of this
and went out to
face
them.
Now the Philistines had come and made
a
raid
in
the valley of Rephaim.
Now the Philistines had come and raided
the Valley of Rephaim.
David inquired of God, saying,
Shall
I go up against the Philistines? and
will you deliver them into my hand? Yahweh
said
to
him,
Go up;
for I will deliver them into your hand.
So
David inquired of God, “Should
I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand? ”
“
Go ,”
replied
the
LORD,
“
for I will deliver them into your hand. ”
So they
came
up to Baal Perazim, and
David
struck
them
there;
and David
said, God has broken
my enemies by my hand ,
like
the
breach
of
waters
. Therefore
they called the
name
of
that place Baal Perazim.
So David
and
his
men
went
up to Baal -
perazim, where
he
defeated
the
Philistines
and said, “Like
a
bursting
flood,
God has burst
out
against
my enemies by my hand. ”
So
they called that place Baal -
perazim.
They
left
their gods there;
and
David
gave
commandment
, and they were
burned with
fire.
There
the
Philistines
abandoned
their gods, and David
ordered
that
they be
burned in
the
fire.
The Philistines yet
again
made
a
raid
in
the valley.
Once
again
the Philistines raided
the valley.
David inquired
again of God ;
and
God
said
to
him, You
shall
not go
up after them :
turn
away
from
them
, and come
on
them over
against
the mulberry
trees.
So
David again inquired
of God ,
who
answered
him, “Do
not march
up after them, but
circle
around
them
and attack
them in
front
of
the balsam
trees.
It
shall
be,
when
you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry
trees, that
then
you
shall
go
out to battle ;
for
God is
gone
out before you to strike the host
of the Philistines.
As
soon
as
you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam
trees, move
out to battle ,
because
this
will
mean
that
God has
marched
out before you to strike the camp
of the Philistines. ”
David did as God commanded him :
and they struck the host
of the Philistines from Gibeon even
to Gezer.
So
David did as God had
commanded him ,
and they struck down
the army
of the Philistines all
the
way
from Gibeon to Gezer.
The
fame of
David
went out into all
lands;
and Yahweh
brought
the fear
of
him
on
all nations.
And
David’s
fame went out into every
land,
and the LORD
caused
all nations to
fear
him
.
