Now
Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys
to David, along
with
cedar logs
, stonemasons
, and carpenters, to build a
palace
for
him.
And
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers
to David, and
cedar -trees
, and
masons
, and carpenters, to build him a
house
.
And David realized
that the
LORD
had established him as
king over Israel and
had
highly
exalted
his kingdom for the
sake
of
His people Israel
.
And David perceived
that Jehovah
had established him king over Israel ;
for
his kingdom was
exalted
on
high,
for his people Israel's
sake
.
And David took more wives in
Jerusalem and became
the
father
of
more sons and daughters.
And David took more wives at
Jerusalem ;
and David
begat
more sons and daughters.
These are the names of the children born
to
him
in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
And
these are the names of the children whom
he
had
in Jerusalem: Shammua, and
Shobab, Nathan, and
Solomon,
Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
and
Ibhar, and
Elishua, and
Elpelet,
Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
and
Nogah, and
Nepheg, and
Japhia,
Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
and
Elishama, and
Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
When the Philistines heard that David had
been
anointed king over all Israel, they
all went in
search
of
him;
but
David learned
of this
and went out to
face
them.
And
when the Philistines heard that David was
anointed king over all Israel, all the
Philistines
went up
to
seek
David :
and
David
heard
of it,
and went out against
them.
Now the Philistines had come and raided
the Valley of Rephaim.
Now the Philistines had come and made
a
raid
in
the valley of Rephaim.
So
David inquired of God, “Should
I go up against the Philistines? Will
You
deliver them into my hand? ”
“Go,”
replied
the
LORD
, “
for I will deliver them into your
hand. ”
And
David inquired of God, saying,
Shall
I go up against the Philistines? and
wilt
thou
deliver them into my hand? And
Jehovah
said
unto
him
, Go
up;
for I will deliver them into thy
hand.
So David
and
his
men
went
up to Baal-perazim, where
he
defeated
the
Philistines
and said, “Like
a
bursting
flood,
God has
burst
out
against
my
enemies by my hand. ”
So
they called that place Baal-perazim.
So they
came
up to Baal-perazim, and David
smote
them
there;
and
David
said, God hath
broken
mine
enemies by my hand ,
like
the
breach
of
waters
. Therefore
they called the
name
of
that place Baal-perazim.
There
the
Philistines
abandoned
their gods ,
and David ordered
that
they be
burned in
the
fire.
And
they
left
their gods there;
and David gave
commandment,
and
they were
burned with
fire.
Once
again
the Philistines raided
the valley.
And
the Philistines yet
again
made
a
raid
in
the valley.
So
David again
inquired of God ,
who
answered
him, “Do
not march
up after them ,
but
circle
around
them and attack
them in
front
of
the balsam
trees.
And
David inquired again
of God ;
and
God
said
unto
him, Thou
shalt
not go
up after them :
turn
away
from
them ,
and come
upon
them over
against
the mulberry-
trees.
As
soon
as
you
hear
the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam
trees, move
out to battle ,
because
this
will
mean
that
God has
marched
out before you
to strike
the camp
of the Philistines. ”
And
it
shall
be,
when
thou
hearest
the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-
trees, that
then
thou
shalt
go
out to battle ;
for
God is
gone
out before thee
to smite
the host
of the Philistines.
So
David did as God had
commanded him ,
and they struck
down
the army
of the Philistines all
the
way
from Gibeon to Gezer.
And
David did as God commanded him :
and they smote
the host
of the Philistines from Gibeon even
to Gezer.
And David’s
fame went out into every
land,
and the LORD
caused
all
nations
to
fear him.
And the
fame of
David
went out into all
lands;
and Jehovah
brought
the fear of
him upon
all
nations
.
